Dovetail Pressure Locked Steel Bar Grating 

Our dovetail pressure locked steel bar grating (Type "DPL" or Type "DT") is the most commonly used type of grating in many European countries today. 
Our dovetail pressure locked steel grating is a mesh grid structure, in which a series of parallel notched bearing bars are bonded with perpendicular notched cross bars at specified intervals through a high-pressure manufacturing process, including the hammering and welding operations, thus permanently locking notched cross bars into notched bearing bars. In this mesh grid structure, both bearing bars and cross bars are flat bars, and each bearing bar is notched with multiple dovetail slots, so is each cross bar. However, all cross bars are always in a smaller height than bearing bars. Both notched bearing bars and notched cross bars have close tolerance. 
In terms of premium carbon steel such as Q235, the welding operation involved in the production process is the CO2 gas-shielded welding process. 
In terms of stainless steel such as AISI 304, the welding operation involved in the production process is the laser welding process. 
Our press-locked steel grating provides a bi-directional flush surface featuring a clean, aesthetically pleasing look and a firm, rigid connection. In order to increase traction in wet, slippery, or hazardous environments, bearing and/or cross bars can be notched on the upper side. 
Our dovetail pressure locked steel grating is manufactured from premium carbon steel and stainless steel.

Production Steps

Now we hereby brief you all on how many production steps should be strictly followed to manufacture our hot dip galvanized machine press welded steel gratings.
Step 1: Materials Preparation 
Ready bearing bars and cross bars properly for Step 2. 
Step 2: Bearing Bars Placement  
Place bearing bars into a work-holding device that is suitable for holding bearing bars in place. 
Step 3: Pressure Welding  
This step involves cold pressing of cross bars into bearing bars at high pressure and resistance welding of the bar materials under great pressure at high temperature. In this step, a moving fixture is responsible to safely carry cross bars into place, where a manipulator will grip cross bars firmly and immediately once they are in the right position, and then the press welding operation follows instantly. 
Step 4: Flush Trimming for Edges  
Flush trimming is designed to remove the excessive portion of cross bars that extends beyond the edges of the grating panel. 
Step 5: Cutting to Size and Shape  
Cut to size and shape in strict accordance with the desirable dimensions and shapes provided for by the working drawings of the buyer. 
Step 6: Banding for Open Ends  
Banding is a welding process that closes open ends of bearing bars, and the line of cutouts if any, of the grating panel. As a rule, banding bars are the same as bearing bars in thickness and height, however if banding bars serve as the load carrying bars or other special purposes, and the buyer's working drawings prescribe otherwise, then the buyer's working drawings shall prevail.   
Step 7: Hot Dip Galvanizing   
Once the banding process is complete, the grating panels should be finished by using the hot dip galvanizing process. 
The zinc coating thickness is usually 65 μm or above, which is enough to resist corrosion for 15-30 years in harsh conditions.

Installation Instructions 

According to our Chinese national standard, all steel gratings shall be anchored to their supports by positive means. 
At Tech-Shine Grating (TSG), we have two positive means for grating installation purposes, one means is field weld, and the other means is the use of grating clamps of all types to install our gratings securely. 
When superior and permanent installation is expected, field weld is strongly recommended. 
When grating panels are designed to be removable or field weld is impractical on the job site, our grating clamps of all types will come in handy immediately.

c. Steel bar grating stair treads
Based on the different installation methods and nosing types, there are 12 types of steel bar grating stair treads at Tech-Shine. 
Our nosing types feature their superior nonslip (anti-slip) performance, including checkered plate nosing, striped plate nosing, perforated raised buttons plate nosing, highly visible yellow abrasive nosing, and handi-treads nonslip stair nosing.

d. Press-locked steel bar grating
The press-locked steel bar grating, also known as pressure locked steel bar grating, is the most commonly used type of grating in many European countries today.
Our press-locked steel bar grating is a mesh grid structure, in which a series of parallel notched bearing bars are bonded with perpendicular cross bars at specified intervals through a high-pressure manufacturing process, thus permanently locking crossbars into notched bearing bars. In this mesh grid structure, both notched bearing bars and cross bars are flat bars, and they are close-tolerance ones. As a rule, both notched bearing bars and cross bars are of the same height and notched with multiple slots. However, upon request cross bars can come without slots and in a smaller height than notched bearing bars.  
Our press-locked steel grating provides a bi-directional flush surface featuring a clean, aesthetically pleasing look and a firm, rigid connection.
Our press-locked steel grating is manufactured from aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel, and optional serrated surfaces provide increased traction for wet, slippery, or hazardous environments.
e. Swage-locked steel bar grating
Our swage-locked steel bar grating has become the preferred choice for a diversity of applications, including industrial, architectural and construction, and municipal engineering applications, due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, minimum deflection and maximum safety.
Our swage-locked steel bar grating is manufactured by a swaging (or pinching) and forming (or further welding) process. In this process, the cross bars are inserted into pre-punched holes (usually diamond-shaped holes) in the bearing bars, thus forming a positive mechanical connection permanently.
f. Stainless steel bar grating
Our stainless steel bar grating is manufactured in stainless steel 304, 304L, 316 and 316L. And it can be made by using either the press welding process, the press locking process or the swaging process. 
Our stainless steel bar gratings are most often used in highly corrosive environments and long-lasting architectural applications. 
Finishing options are diverse, mainly including mill finish, commercial clean and electro-polished finish.

FAQs

Q1: Can I get a small sample from your factory so that our people can examine its quality before we arrive at a decision to buy from your factory?
A1: Yes, you can. In order for every customer from all over the world to come to know our quality steel grating products, our management have decided to fabricate a small sample at no charge to the customer, but the customer shall send for the ready-made sample from our factory, or the customer may pay the express fee to us before we deliver the sample. 

Q2: How about your payment terms?
A2: It depends!  
In case of a small value purchase order, the value of which is not higher than USD5000.00, 100% advance payment is mandatory.  
If the value of a purchase order is greater than USD5000.00, 50% deposit shall be mandatory before our production, and 50% balance shall be paid to us before our shipment after the goods are ready for delivery. 
Please note that all payments shall be made by wire transfer using the SWIFT system. 

Q3: How could I know whether my order is being executed or not?
A3: Don't worry about it. Our production manager will closely follow up on the production progress, and we will give you relevant pictures and/or videos from time to time so that you can have real-time knowledge of how your order is being executed.
